President Xi extends condolences to people affected by tropical cyclone Idai

Chinese President Xi Jinping extended condolences on Wednesday to Mozambican President Filipe Nyusi, Zimbabwean President Emmerson Mnangagwa, and Malawian President Peter Mutharika over the heavy casualties and property losses caused by the tropical cyclone Idai. 
President Xi also expressed his deep condolences to the victims, the families of the missing and the injured, and the people in the disaster areas. 
The Chinese people feel the pain of the three African countries, he said. 
He added that the people of the three countries will be able to overcome the disaster and rebuild their homes as soon as possible under the strong leadership of the three governments. 
Earlier on Tuesday, the Chinese government expressed willingness to provide assistance to the three countries. 
The disaster has reportedly killed 84, 56 and 98 people in Mozambique, Malawi and Zimbabwe, respectively.
