The brown spotted pit viper is a venomous snake that is endemic to China and Southeast Asia. Males can reach a maximum length of 112 centimeters while females can reach 116 centimeters.
Brown spotted pit vipers are usually active at night and are frequently spotted in the woods after the rain. These snakes are fierce predators. Their prey includes insects, fish, frogs, rats and sometimes other smaller snakes.
