Troops of monkeys are taking over the political center of India. About 4,000-5,000 Rhesus Macaque monkeys are estimated to colonize areas around various government buildings, including the presidential palace, frightening both the civil servants and the public in New Delhi. The increasing population of the primates in India causes fatal clashes with humans. In 2007 the primates pushed the deputy mayor of Delhi off a balcony to his death and a 12-day-old boy was bitten to death by a monkey in November.
