The Dulong River, located in southwest China's Yunnan Province, is lined with towering gorges and crossed with gullies. Due to the poor transport conditions in the area, the Derung people had been living in poverty for years. In 2014, the Dulongjiang Highway Tunnel opened, giving them a path to prosperity.
