Eight people were injured and one was in critical condition after a train carrying 328 passengers crashed and derailed in southeastern Mongolia early Sunday morning, with no deaths reported so far, according to local media.
The accident took place at around 7:30 a.m. local time when the place was pounded by heavy rain. The train was traveling from the Mongolian capital Ulan Bator to Zamiin-Uud soum in the southeastern province of Dornogovi.
No Chinese passengers were on the train, Xinhua reported citing an officer from the Chinese embassy in Mongolia.
The injured has been hospitalized, and investigation and rescue work is currently underway.
