A gigantic “whale” jumps out of the calm waters at the Bruges canal in Belgium, towering over the crowds of viewers. /VCG Photo.
It was not a common whale, but a 38-foot-tall sculpture made by over five tons of plastic waste that was floating in the Pacific and the Atlantic Oceans. /VCG Photo.
The Bruges Whale, also called the Skyscraper, was made to highlight the marine pollution problem and remind us of the 150,000,000 tons of plastic waste that has been dumped and still remains in oceans. /VCG Photo.
It was made by StudioKCA as part of the 2018 Bruges Triennial with the theme of “Liquid City,” and will run through the summer until September 16. /VCG Photo.
