China's outbound direct investment up 5.1 percent

China's non-financial outbound direct investment (ODI) rose 5.1 percent during the January to September period this year, official data showed Wednesday.

Domestic investors made 82.02 billion US dollars of non-financial ODI in 4,597 overseas enterprises in 155 countries and regions in the first three quarters, said China's Ministry of Commerce (MOFCOM).

The newly signed contracts of foreign projects generated 154.51 billion US dollars, and the turnover reached 108.99 billion US dollars, a year-on-year increase of 6.4 percent. 

Specifically, Chinese enterprises have increased investment of 10.78 billion US dollars in countries along the Belt and Road during January to September period, up 12.3 percent year-on-year.

Chinese enterprises implemented a total of 265 cross-border M&A projects in 49 countries and regions, covering 17 major industries including manufacturing, transportation and mining. The transaction volume totaled 43.3 billion US dollars, and overseas financing reached 24.13 billion US dollars.
