LeBron James, "king" of the Cleveland Cavaliers, said on Tuesday that neither his team nor the Golden State Warriors wanted the invitation to the White House if they win the NBA Finals, according to Washington Post.
"I mean, I know no matter who wins this series, no one wants the invite anyway. So it won’t be Golden State or Cleveland going," James said.
He made the statements in response to the US president's decision to cancel the invitation for the Philadelphia Eagles who won the Super Bowl in February. As a customary celebration, the winning team is invited to the White House to meet the president.

However, most of the Eagles' players do not want to meet Donald Trump. The White House said that they have been preparing for a long time for the meeting but found out that there were fewer than 10 players in the team's delegation. In the end, Trump revoked the invitation with the excuse that the players "disagree with their president because he insists that they proudly stand for the national anthem."
"I’m not surprised. It’s typical of (Trump). I think as long as he’s in office, then the communication and things like that are going to continue to happen. It’s a lot of things that we believe in as Americans that we don’t feel that he’s for. There are a lot of people that believe that he’s not for the people or doing things that’s right by the people," said James, one day before Game 3 at the Quicken Loans Arena On Wednesday.

Though the two teams have been fighting NBA Finals for four consecutive years, the Warriors agree with the Cavaliers over Trump. Both Stephen Curry and Kevin Durant said the two teams would not visit the White House as long as Trump is in office.
"What else do you expect Trump to do? When somebody says they don’t want to come to the White House, he disinvites them so the photo op don’t look bad. We get it at this point," said Durant when asked how he thought about Eagles' invitation to the White House being canceled.
WNBA is at enmity with Trump, too. The Minnesota Lynx won the 2016-17 WNBA Final Champion but never received an invitation to the White House. Cheryl Reeve, the team's head coach and general manager said that such conduct showed how the Trump Administration views women.
