Chen Long defeats HS Prannoy to secure place at Asian Badminton Championships final

2016 Rio Olympic champion Chen Long reached the men’s singles final at the Asian Badminton Championships winning straight sets over H.S. Prannoy of India 21-16, 21-18 in Wuhan, central China’s Hubei Province on Saturday.

The defending champion took the first match 21-16, and grabbed the advantage in the second game, making Prannoy lunge to return a shallow shot, before hitting a running lob over his head to claim a 21-18 victory, and a place in the final.
"My opponent played very well today. Both of us fought through three-games in the quarter-finals. But I played using my own style today, even while facing his comeback in the second game, and I made the correct adjustments to meet the challenge quickly,” said Chen Long.

Chen will face Japan's former world number two, Kento Momota in the final, who won against Malaysia's Lee Chon Wei in two straight games 21-19, 21-14 to secure the other place in the final.
