Statistics show that the economic and trade ties between China and Japan are gradually recovering. China is now Japan's largest trading partner, and Japan is the second largest trade partner of China. In 2017, bilateral trade totaled 303 billion US dollars, exceeding the 300 billion US dollars line for the first time in three years.
Chinese Premier Li Keqiang previously described the current bilateral relations between China and Japan as "spring time", expressing his hope to enhance such ties.
Hideaki Takahashi, deputy chairman of the Guangzhou Japanese Chamber of Commerce & Industry told CGTN that China and Japan are neighboring countries that are permanent partners, and can’t be moved away. He's looking forward to more cooperation between the two nations especially in the technology industry.
"Nowadays, China’s innovation industry is thriving. There is a Chinese city called Shenzhen in Guangdong Province, where innovation projects are coming up every day," Takahashi said, "Looking back into history, Japan formerly followed a similar path, starting from innovation to manufacturing. I believe that by combining the advantages of China and Japan, we can create brand new industries. Innovation requires market, manufacturing and raw materials. I believe that Japan and China must collaborate closely in this sector".

Japan is a pioneer in technological innovation, and China's "Made in China 2025" plan provides a good environment for collaboration opportunities for both sides.
The Guangzhou Japanese Chamber of Commerce & Industry was established in 1984. It currently has over 750 company and individual members, covering a variety of industries ranging from manufacturing to service industries, producing finished products and components.
According to the 2017 statistics of the Japanese External Trade Organization, which is affiliated to the Japanese government, 48.3% of Japanese enterprises in China have plans to expand their investment in the coming two years.
"I started working in 1987, and have witnessed many ups and downs in Sino-Japan relations," Takahashi told CGTN, "I believe that such relations have entered a new stage. And I sincerely hope that we can find a win-win model for our mutual relations and join our hands together to promote cooperation in Asia or around the globe, and I personally will also try my best to do my part in this matter."
