The United Nations Security Council has authorized a mission to monitor the implementation of the ceasefire and withdrawal of rival forces from Yemen's key port of Hodeida. As many as 75 UN monitors will be deployed for an initial six-month period. The monitors are authorized to work to assure that local forces provide security at the ports. The truce deal was reached by the warring parties at UN-sponsored talks in Sweden on December 13.
