China's men's national football team arrived in Doha, Qatar on Wednesday where they will hold their final training sessions ahead of the AFC Asian Cup, which will kick off in the United Arab Emirates on January 5.
After leaving Haikou training center for Qatar, Marcello Lippi's men will have a 10-day preparation during which they will play against Iraq and Jordan in two warm-up matches before the Italian announces the final 23-player list for the continental tournament.
Goalkeeper Yan Junling mentioned, "I hope we can show the results of our training in Haikou in the two upcoming warm-up matches, which are also two important games before the Asian Cup. Just as we expected four years ago, we are looking forward to a good performance this time."
For this event in 2015, China won all three group games led by coach Alain Perrin, and reached the last-eight where they lost 2-0 to hosts Australia, who went on to claim the title that year. China is hoping for similar success in this edition of the tournament.
In the 2019 Asian Cup, China are in Group C where they will face Kyrgyzstan in their opening match on January 7, and then play the Philippines on January 11. Their last group game is against South Korea on January 16.
