Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) leader Kim Jong Un visited the cemetery of martyrs of the Chinese People's Volunteer Army (CPVA) Thursday on the occasion of the 65th anniversary of the signing of the Korean Armistice Agreement.
The signing of the agreement marked the ending of the Korean War – took place from 1950 to 1953 – also represented the victory of the Korean National War of Liberation.
The cemetery is located at Hoechang County, South Phyongan Province, according to state-run news agency KCNA. Kim sent out a wreath on behalf of himself, on which gold inscribed "the spirit of the Chinese People's Volunteers Army Martyrs is immortal."
The unyielding spirit of those soldiers will be remembered, the DPRK leader said. He hopes to see the spirit being inherited by the future generation.
Visiting Chinese Vice Foreign Minister Kong Xuanyou also participated in the event.
