China's manned submersible "Shenhai Yongshi" (Deep-Sea Warrior) finished its first dive this year in the southwest Indian Ocean with a harvest of deep-sea samples. The submersible was placed into the sea and dived for over nine hours to a depth of 3,300 meters before returning with a rich harvest of deep-sea stones and creatures. The deep-sea stones collected weigh 170 kilograms, the heaviest collection by the submersible since it was put into operation.
