China slammed Nauru for “violating international norms” at the 18 Pacific Islands Forum, according to Chinese Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Hua Chunying at a daily news briefing.
“Nauru, as the host of the forum, violated international norms and the rules of the forum, and put on a clumsy farce,” Hua said when asked about the dispute between China and Nauru at the forum.
During the meeting, Nauru prevented China’s delegation from speaking, so they lodged “stern representations” and walked out of the venue in protest, Hua said.
“Many countries' representatives at the meeting also left the venue and expressed strong dissatisfaction with the Nauru side.”
Hua also reaffirmed the One-China policy and expressed willingness on China’s side to strengthen cooperation with Pacific island countries on that basis.
