China encourages insurance companies to invest in good quality stocks and bonds in a bid to help ensure stability in the capital markets, the country's securities and banking regulator said Monday.

Insurance companies are encouraged to use the long-term fund to invest in good quality stocks and bonds to improve their portfolios and expand their investment scope, the China Banking and Insurance Regulatory Commission (CBIRC) said in a statement on its website.
