Peak Experience: Fuxing high-speed trains will run at 350 km/h
[]
We start with China's high-speed trains. They are picking up speed, YET AGAIN. A new generation of China-made trains, the Fuxing590D 5174, will soon run at 350 kilometers per hour between Beijing and Shanghai.  They will be the world's FASTEST bullet trains for commercial use. Fuxing trains have just had their first run, though not that fast, to a different destination. Sun Ye has more.

In less than half an hour, and the Fuxing goes from Tianjin to Beijing. That's some 300 kilometers an hour, but not the best for this new generation bullet train. When it starts running on the Beijing-Shanghai route next month, it will be at 350 kilometers an hour, bringing down the commute time by ONE FOURTH to a little over four hours. And it's not just speed.

The Fuxing is designed to last 30 years. It will save some 20 percent more energy compared with other models.  And passengers will like the adjustable lighting, and free wifi. Initial passenger feedback is positive.

NO SUPER It's better in almost every way. I've got wider leg room and a more comfortable seat.

And Fuxing is built to last.

YU HONGLIANG, MECHANIC BEIJING RAILWAY BUREAU The train has some 2,500 real time monitor points.  That's 500 more than average trains. Everything, from temperature to speed, we have it under control.

Fuxing trains are entirely designed, developed and manufactured in China. The country also has the world's longest high-speed rail network of more than 22,000 kilometers. China put a cap on high-speed trains at below 300 kilometers an hour after a fatal wreck in 2011. But about a third of its railway network is designed for trains to run at 350 kilometers an hour.
