The containment dome has been successfully installed on the No. 3 nuclear reactor of a nuclear power project in Fangchenggang City, south China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region on Wednesday.
Weighing over 260 tons, measuring 45 meters in diameter, the installation of the dome was for sure no easy task.
The dome installation came ten days ahead of schedule and will be followed by the installation of equipment on a nuclear unit owned by the China General Nuclear Power Corporation, marking the completion of construction work and the beginning of the assembly stage.
The Hualong One technology is a pressurized water reactor design that is used in homegrown third-generation reactors.
It is China's only domestically-developed third-generation nuclear technology that has so far gone international. Experts say the nuclear power industry in China has "made significant headway in recent years, with its advantages basically taking shape.
