A 6.0-magnitude earthquake struck 88 kilometers (55 miles) off the Pacific coast of Cihuatlan, Mexico, at 3:56 GMT on Saturday, according to the USGS.
The epicenter of the earthquake was recorded at a depth of 24.8 kilometers.
Tremors were felt by local residents, according to tweets posted online.
No casualties have been reported yet.
