Lai Mingmin, the former governor of Bank of China's Jiangmen branch in Guangdong Province, has returned to China and turned himself in to the police on Friday, making him the second to surrender since China’s announcement on the fleeing of criminals charged with corruption, which was issued on June 6.
Lai, born in 1952, was suspected of bribery and corruption and fled to Australia in August 2001.
He was listed as an Interpol "red notice," and the 53rd of China’s 100 most wanted fugitives to return.
