Melting Ice, a non-profit Finnish group, is raising half a million dollars with the goal of carving US President Donald Trump’s face into a 115-foot-tall arctic iceberg, which would have roughly the same dimensions as the sculptures of Mount Rushmore.
The project is aimed at increasing the awareness of the impact of global warming.
“There are still people who ponder whether it’s (global warming) a real issue. We want to build the monument for all of us, so we can see how long the sculpture lasts before melting,” Nicolas Prieto of the Melting Ice said in a statement.
“Often people only believe something when they see it with their own eyes.”
“Will the carving of Donald Trump’s face on an arctic iceberg melt or last for a thousand years?” the group asked in a statement.
Trump has sparked fury when he removed the US from the Paris Agreement last August, which is intended to tackle climate change. On top of that, he claimed that parts of the world would benefit from the effects. He also has claimed that climate change was “created by and for the Chinese in order to make US manufacturing non-competitive.”
The iceberg sparked discussion on social media, with many asking if it was really a good use of the money.
“They might better use the money to actually help the environment,” RobW commented that.
“Exactly what is a Donald Trump iceberg going to do to help the environment?” UnitedKingdom said.

Previously, it has been reported that Trump admitted that his life-long personal dream is to be the fifth US president on Mount Rushmore, where the faces of four prominent US presidents are seen including George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Theodore Roosevelt and Abraham Lincoln.
