Chinese Super League: Shandong beats Changchun

The 13th round of Chinese Super League (CSL) matches kicked off on Saturday. The blockbuster battle between Guangzhou Evergrande and Shanghai SIPG was delayed due to a typhoon but the other three were played as scheduled. Shandong Luneng visited Changchun Yatai and a 2-1 away win helped the visitors temporarily climb to the top the standings.

Nigeria's Odion Ighalo broke the deadlock for homeside Yatai in the 24th minute to clinch the opener. The goal came as Fan Xiaodong passed the ball to Ighalo, who sent the ball home.
Italian midfielder Graziano Pelle equalized for Shandong with a header just two minutes into the second half. Diego Tardelli found Pelle, who finished it off to make it 1-1.

Then an unexpected howler took place as Namanja Pejcinovic of Yatai scored an own goal in the 67th minute. The game ended 2-1, with the win lifting Shandong to the top of the table with 27 points. The win also helped Shandong remain unbeaten in eight rounds.
Elsewhere, Chongqing Lifan snapped a five-game losing streak with a 2-1 victory over Tianjin Teda. Brazilian striker Alan Kardec opened the scoring for Lifan in the 10th minute, before Hui Jiakang shot from distance in the 33rd minute to equalize. But Alan Kardec was on target again in the 46th minute to seal the victory for Lifan. In the day’s third game, two promoted teams met each other in Beijing for the first time this season, with Beijing Renhe overpowering Dalian Yifang 3-1.
On Sunday night, Beijing Guoan will confront Tianjin Quanjian in Beijing Workers’ Stadium. If Guoan win this game, the three points will put them at the top the CSL table by a one point margin.
