At least nine people were killed and 47 injured in a crash involving a Turkish high-speed train in Ankara on Thursday, according to state media.
Speaking to reporters at the crash site, Ankara Governor Vasip Sahin Sahin said the train, which was traveling to the central province of Konya, had crashed into a locomotive which carries out track inspections.
The accident occurred at around 6:30 a.m. local time (0330 GMT). It was not clear at what speed the trains were traveling when the crash happened, but the crash was near a station where the Ankara-Konya train does not stop.
Local authorities have launched an investigation into the crash.
