Yan Xiaonan of China got her fourth consecutive win after signing on to the Ultimate Fighting Championship in Chicago on Saturday night. Just like in the UFC 238, she defeated substitute American Angela Hill by unanimous decision at United Center.
During this three-round women's strawweight bout, the 29-year-old Shenyang native looked more aggressive than her rival, who's five years older than her and has a similar win-loss ratio in her entire MMA career.
For most of the match, Yan kept Hill beyond a leg's distance, while preventing Hill's punches from reaching her chin.
Originally, Yan would encounter women's strawweight No.12 fighter Felice Herrig, a Chicago native, but the latter withdrew the match due to an ACL injury one month before.
Yan talked about Hill after the match. "I think she's an experienced fighter. She could catch my mistakes quickly. She's so clever."
"Next time, I'll listen to my coach team's suggestions to make more takedowns," the wrestler added, admitting that she's been a bit lazy today.
Now, Yan is close to compatriot Zhang Weili, the current women's strawweight No.6 and the highest-ranking Chinese fighter in the UFC.
