"The talks were not very successful last time, and both sides are considering where to go next," Liu Xin said of the last round of China-U.S. trade negotiations.
CGTN anchor Liu Xin was talking to Fox Business Network host Trish Regan during a live television discussion on China-U.S. trade issues on Thursday.
Asked about her current assessment of the direction of trade talks, Liu said, "The Chinese government has made its position very clear," adding that there is "high possibility" of a trade deal if "the United States treats the Chinese government and negotiating team with respect and shows the willingness to talk without using outside pressure."
"Otherwise, we might be facing a prolonged period of problems for both sides," Liu cautioned.
