Prospective deals reached 57.8 billion US dollars as the first ever China International Import Expo (CIIE) concluded in Shanghai on Saturday, said Sun Chenghai, deputy director of the CIIE Bureau. 

The total volume includes 16.5 billion US dollars worth of smart equipment, 12.7 billion US dollars worth of food and agricultural products, 12 billion US dollars worth of automobiles, 5.8 billion US dollars of medical equipment and medical care products, 4.3 billion US dollars worth of electronic products and home appliances, 3.4 billion US dollars worth of clothes and consumer goods, and 3.2 billion US dollars worth of service trade. 

The total deals with Belt and Road countries reached 4.7 billion US dollars.

Altogether, the six-day event has attracted 3,600 companies from more than 130 countries and regions to participate. Over 400,000 domestic and international buyers have been there, seeking to strike deals. 

Besides, the IPR Protection Service Center of the Expo received and handled some 80 cases from over 20 countries and regions concerning issues such as IPR application, trademark and patent protection in China.

China's imported goods and services are estimated to exceed a value of 30 trillion US dollars and 10 trillion US dollars respectively in the next 15 years, Chinese President Xi Jinping said in an address to the opening ceremony of the CIIE on Monday.
