A month-long poster exhibition under the theme "Fascinating Hunan" kicked off in Kathmandu on Saturday, offering Nepalese an opportunity to gain insight into the rich history and culture of China's Hunan Province.
The exhibition was inaugurated at Nepal Art Council  amid the presence of art enthusiasts, students and people representing different walks of life.
The event is hosted by China Cultural Center in Nepal and Hunan Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism, accelerating cultural exchanges and cooperation between the two countries.
Addressing the opening ceremony, Chinese Ambassador to Nepal Hou Yanqi said, "I am hopeful that the exhibition will offer an opportunity to the Nepalese people to understand the beauty and diversity of Hunan Province."
On the occasion, Member of Parliament of Nepal and Former Minister Mahesh Basnet said that such events are important to enhance people-to-people relations between Nepal and China.
"Besides the major cultural features, the exhibition provides information about economic and physical infrastructure development of Hunan province. It has helped us to know Hunan from a closer perspective," Basnet said.
The exhibition features two sections, Hunan-themed posters created by 20 internationally-renowned designers, and award-winning art works of "Magnificent Hunan" Cultural Posters Contest 2018.
The posters embody the characteristics of Hunan culture from different angles, pursuit of the ideal with perseverance and entrepreneurship, life attitude of advocacy for science and selfless dedication, and its temperament of diligence, simplicity, honesty and self-confidence.
The exhibition of all 60 posters will be showcased at Nepal Art Council for two days. The posters will be later kept and displayed in the China Cultural Center in Kathmandu till May 12.
