Vanessa Wickham, 24, and her husband decided to hold the ceremony at their venue in Lake Arrowhead, California, but she worried that her father Lew Johnston, who is in the end stages of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, wouldn’t make it because of the high-altitude location about 4,000 feet above sea level. /VCG Photo
The 65-year-old Johnston was diagnosed with the degenerative illness 20 years ago. It obstructs airflow to the lungs and he relies on oxygen to keep him alive. /VCG Photo
Doctors warned Johnston that his lung could collapse but he still decided to go on a practice trip to check if he could cope with the altitude. /VCG Photo
In the end, he managed to make it and walk his daughter down the aisle. A delighted Vanessa and her father shared their happiness by dancing to the song "Can You Feel The Love Tonight" at the wedding. /VCG Photo
