Extreme weather can ruin things, especially during holiday trips.
A cable car in northwest China’s Mt. Huashan stopped working after sustaining high winds the night before, leaving a massive crowd of tourists stuck in a cave on top of the mountain, according to the scenic spot's official Weibo account.
As one of the five best-known mountains in China, Mt. Huashan scenic area saw its tourist flow peak at 32,932 visitors on October 3.
Managers of the tourist spot initiated its emergency response protocols shortly after hundreds of exhausted travelers were stranded.
Diversion measures were implemented, and tourists were given free food, hot water, ginger soup, and warm clothes. Elderly and sick tourists were also transferred indoors.
Authorities reminded the night climbing travelers to drop their plans and try again another day.
Luckily, no one was trapped inside the cable car, and all tourists have been evacuated safely from the cave and reached the ground earlier this morning, according to media reports.
Staggered shifts might be considered in terms of China’s holiday system, especially during the “Golden Week” of the National Day holidays. More choices may be taken into account in order to accommodate travelers and ensure an enjoyable experience.
