Spain's Expansion released its rankings for the enterprise value of European football clubs in the 2017-18 campaign on Wednesday.
Manchester United from Premier League ranked No.1 with Real Madrid and FC Barcelona coming in as No.2 and No.3.
The rankings are based on data from official yearly financial reports and balance sheets released by the clubs.
Manchester United (MCU), Real Madrid and Barcelona made up the top three, with 3.812 billion, 3,420 billion and 3.259 billion US dollars, respectively.
A few slight differences can be found in comparison the the rankings from the 2016-17 campaign, when MCU and Real Madrid were almost even-handed. For this campaign, MCU's value grew by about five percent while Real Madrid's shrunk by around two percent, creating a gap of nearly 400 million US dollars.
Six out of the top 10 teams are from the Premier league, thanks to good business operations and rational profit distribution enjoyed by the English football league, according to Expansion. English football association (FA) has been making sure that every team receives a fair share from the total revenues for decades. For the 2017-18 campaign, all of the top 16 teams of Premier League made over 117 million US dollars.
