Chinese duo Duan Yingying and Zheng Saisai were defeated by No.2 seed team Hungarian Tímea Babos and French Kristina Mladenovic with 2-6, 3-6, in the women's doubles final at French Open on Sunday.
The two, however, became the first Chinese pair to reach the Grand Slam women's doubles finals since Zheng Jie and Yan Zi in 2006.
Babos and Mladenovic also won the Australian Open together last year, and Mladenovic won the French Open in 2016 with Caroline Garcia.
Given their debut as a pairing at the international court, "my thanks go to the national team for the support and help and the family members. Despite the failure to win the championship, Saisai and I really tried our best. Next year, I hope, we will stand on the finals stage again," choked Duan at the award ceremony.
