Houston Rockets general manager Daryl Morey released a statement Thursday saying the team is “parting ways” with Anthony and “working toward a resolution.”
“After much internal discussion, the Rockets will be parting ways with Carmelo Anthony and we are working toward a resolution. Carmelo had a tremendous approach during his time with the Rockets and accepted every role head coach Mike D'Antoni gave him. The fit we envisioned when Carmelo chose to sign with the Rockets has not materialized, therefore we thought it was best to move on as any other outcome would have been unfair to him,” said Daryl Morey.

ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski had earlier reported that the Rockets were placing the 10-time All-Star on waivers. According to Wojnarowski's report, Anthony's representatives spent Monday contacting NBA front offices regarding a potential new home for Anthony.
The 34-year-old Anthony is averaging a career-low 13.4 points per game and has come off the bench in eight of his 10 games with Houston, after being a starter his entire career.

He joined the Rockets on a one-year deal for the veteran minimum of 2.4 million US dollars this summer, after being waived by Atlanta following a trade from Oklahoma City. But Houston have won just six of their first 13 games, with limited production from the man known as Melo.
The 10-time All-Star averaged 24.1 points per game in 16 seasons with Denver, New York, and OKC. Anthony also led the league in scoring in the 2012-2013 campaign.
D'Antoni said he feels for Anthony that things ended this way and made it clear that it wasn't a matter of Anthony not having the right attitude in Houston.
“In the summer we tried to hit a home run and it didn't work out,” D'Antoni said. “He tried everything he could. He was great while he was here. It just didn't work out for whatever reason. I just thank him for his professionalism. It was good. He tried everything he could to make it work and it just didn't work out.”
