This event originated in 2012 and soon spread throughout the entire prefecture. According to an official with the Guoluo environmental department, each of the 188 villages in the prefecture would participate in the collecting of roadside trash.

They usually get in touch through WeChat and organize spontaneous waste-collecting events. According to the official, at least 20 people attend each time, with a maximum of 300 participants.

They mainly focus on collecting garbage on both sides of the main roads in Guolu. After picking them up, they deliver the waste to the nearby large garbage disposal site for treatment.
