Chinese tech company Xiaomi released its new Mi Play smartphone, the first model of the company's new series, on Monday in Beijing.
The new Mi Play brings some differences from previous Xiaomi smartphones. The most noticeable feature is the use of a water-drop notch at the top  of the screen.
The smartphone has a 5.84-inch LCD display along with a 19:9 aspect ratio. It is powered by the MediaTek Helio P35 processor but is limited to storage of 64GB and 4GB of RAM.

Rather than using a metal or plastic body like other low-end products, Xiaomi's new Mi Play phone uses Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection.
Smartphones with dual-camera systems have become mainstream, so it is not surprise that the Mi Play is also part of the trend. According to the company, the phone includes a main 12-megapixel primary sensor and a secondary two-megapixel sensor. On the front, it is equipped with a single eight-megapixel front camera with face recognition and portrait mode.
What really makes the phone different is that free 4G high-speed data is provided for one year, with 10GB available every month.

The phone comes in gold, black, and blue and is priced at 1,099 yuan, roughly 160 U.S. dollars, but is currently only available for customers in China.
