The Republic of Korea (ROK) and the US are set to establish a working group to "coordinate efforts on denuclearization" of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK), ROK's official Yonhap reported, citing sources.
Details will be discussed during the upcoming meeting between Seoul's top nuclear envoy Lee Do-hoon and US envoy for the DPRK Stephen Biegun on Monday.
The meeting will conclude on Wednesday.
Yonhap reported that Lee would be joined by officials from the unification ministry and the presidential office of the Blue House.
The new consultative body is also expected to talk about the preparations for a planned meeting between US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and his DPRK counterpart Kim Yong Chol. The meeting was set to take place in New York earlier this month, yet was postponed, reportedly due to scheduling conflicts.
The construction of a cross-border railway on the Peninsula is also on the agenda.
