Shangri-La to attract tourists with cultural events

The Diqing Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture of Yunnan Province at China's southwest announced on the 8th that the Shangri-La Prefecture and its neighboring regions will host a series of events this year, including the Balagezong Music Festival, the Horse Racing Festival, the Xianzi Festival at Shangri-La's Meili Snow Mountain and others.
During the Labor Day holiday starting May 1, the Balagezong Music Festival will invite famous singers, offering both cultural and tourism feasts for visitors, as the festival takes place in the majestically beautiful Shangri-La.
The Horse Racing Festival falls on June 7 this year.

The Xianzi Festival at Shangri-La's Meili Snow Mountain will be held in October. The festival is a yearly tradition at Deqin County, located right next to Shangri-La Prefecture. Each township and village of the Deqin County sends performing teams to the festival for music, dance programs. There will also be wine tasting and toasting.

Deqin County has designated the Shengping Township to host the Xianzi Festival annually from lunar calendar's October 3 to 6, to carry on the cultural legacy and promote local tourism.
