Experts said that 2019 will be a big year for robotics and drones no matter the state of the global economy. Analyst firm International Data Corporation expects global spending in the sector to near 120 billion U.S. dollars in 2019.

IDC analysts said that the company projects spending in robotics to almost double in four years, at a growth rate of around 20 percent.

“We have already see robots in industry, commercial and consumer,” Kitty Fok, managing director of International Data Corporation (IDC) China suggested that start-ups need to focus on the niche market.

“What I mean is that you need more data, more robots with AI system so that the robots can learn by getting more data, and they can improve the process better, so there actually a lot of opportunities for start-up companies in this market,” she said.

Meanwhile, as China's robotic industry continues to grow, Fok said China should move quickly to train more talent. 

“Because the market is growing so fast, there will be a lack of talent, so it is important to train more talent for the whole ecosystem of the robotics market,” Fok added.
