April 23 marks World Book Day, an annual event designated by the UNESCO to promote reading, publishing, and copyright. This year, anchors from the China Media Group will take you on a journey through the exquisite works of Shakespeare to explore the beauty of literature and language.
In the fourth episode, CGTN host Rachael Ruble reads “Sonnet 116,” which was first published in 1609. The sonnet has 14 lines and a rhyme scheme of three quatrains and a couplet. Sonnet 116 is about love in its most ideal form. It is widely seen as an attempt by Shakespear to persuade readers what is true love, which never changes and is immeasurable.
Rachael joined CGTN in January 2014 as a news anchor after spending 10 years working as a TV news anchor across America. An avid runner who has completed several full marathons, she loves to travel, especially throughout China and Asia. She also loves spending time with her cat Hǔ Xiānshēng 虎先生 (Mr. Tiger).
