A total of six people were confirmed dead after a freight train derailed in Gongyi City, central China's Henan Province on Wednesday night, the local authority said on Friday.
Those included four train staff who were pronounced dead on Wednesday and two villagers living near the train line.
The two villagers were initially trapped in wreckage after the freight train overturned and crashed into a nearby house.
The freight train carrying Bauxite was owned by China's largest State-owned aluminum producer Aluminum Corp of China.
According to a government statement issued on Thursday, the train has 25 wagons with a total weight of 2,350 tonnes.
Cause of the derailment is still under investigation.
