NBA on Friday announced that Hall of Famer, Oscar "The Big O" Robertson, will receive the league's Lifetime Achievement Award. The award will be given to him at the 2018 NBA Awards at the Barker Hangar in Los Angeles on June 25.
This will be the second time a (former) NBA player will receive the Lifetime Achievement Award. In 2017, the league gave this prize to Boston Celtics' legendary player, 11-time NBA Final Champion, Bill Russell.

Selected by the Cincinnati Royals, the predecessor of today's Sacramento Kings, with the first pick in the 1960 NBA Draft, Robertson was the league's first player with a triple-double season (followed by Russell Westbrook from the Oklahoma City Thunder). He made 41 triple-double performances in 1961-62 season with 30.8 points, 12.5 rebounds and 11.4 assists per game.
Robertson led the list of NBA all-time triple-double leaders with 181 in his 14-year career. He was Rookie of the Year in 1960 and NBA MVP in 1964. The Big O was also picked as an NBA All-Star for 12 times and won three All-Star MVPs.

Robertson spent the first decade of his career at the Royals before he was traded to the newly established Milwaukee Bucks to join Lewis Alcindor who changed his name later into Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, also known as "Skyhook". The two helped Milwaukee win the 1970-71 NBA Champion.
Robertson retired in 1974 and entered the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 1980. In 1996, he was selected into the 50 Greatest NBA Players of All Time. The Milwaukee Bucks and the Sacramento Kings retired his No.1 and No.14 jerseys, respectively.
