China has invited many groups from overseas to visit northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, and welcomes all parties to visit Xinjiang if they act in compliance with the Chinese law, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lu Kang said Tuesday.
China hopes the international community would cultivate a deeper understanding of the problems in Xinjiang, said Lu, but China does not welcome organizations which visit Xinjiang with political purposes and attempt to harm China's interests, he stressed.
He also urged the UN Human Rights Council and other departments concerned to adhere to the purposes and principles of the UN Charter, and respect the human rights of member states when performing their duties.
