According to the French Interior Ministry, two or three armed men hijacked a helicopter and forced the pilot to fly to the prison where Faid was incarcerated. After picking up the prisoner, the armed men again flew an area northwest of Paris, and then released the pilot. /VCG Photo

This is not the first time for Faid to have escaped from the prison. Last time, he got out by using explosives. He was caught six weeks later and had 10 years added on to his sentence. /VCG Photo

Why does he keep escaping from the jail? According to Faid’s lawyer Christian Saint-Palais, he always denied his involvement in the case: “He considered himself the victim of an injustice. He felt he was wrongly incarcerated.” /VCG Photo
