Chinese President Xi Jinping formally welcomed India and Pakistan to their first Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit, a year after their admission as full member states.
Xi delivered warm greetings to the leaders at a restricted session of the 18th SCO summit in eastern China's port city of Qingdao on Sunday.
India and Pakistan completed the process of joining the SCO on June 9, 2017, at the summit in Astana, Kazakhstan. They were previously admitted as observers in 2005.
Xi hailed last year's expansion, saying the SCO now has greater strength and the world has more expectations on the organization.
He called on SCO members to take more responsibility to maintain world and regional peace, security and stability.
