China will send a delegation to Washington in late August for trade talks at the invitation of the US, the Chinese Ministry of Commerce (MOFCOM) said in a statement on Thursday.
China’s Vice Minister of Commerce Wang Shouwen will lead the delegation. Wang is also the deputy China international trade representative.
The US delegation will be led by David Malpass, Under Secretary for International Affairs at the Department of the Treasury.
The two sides hope to resolve a trade conflict that unnerved world markets.
China has reaffirmed its stance of opposing trade protectionism and not accepting unilateral restrictive trade measures, according to the MOFCOM statement.
China welcomes dialogue and communication on the basis of reciprocity, equality and integrity, according to the statement.
