China hails its ever solid relationship and mutual trust with Russia, Chinese Ambassador to Russia Li Hui said on Thursday, highlighting that the China-Russia comprehensive strategic partnership has been deepening in recent years under the leadership of the two countries.
Li spoke highly of the solid progress the two countries are making in the pragmatic cooperation, stressing that the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) has added momentum to the two countries' economic development, and high-tech, agricultural trade, e-commerce and finance have become new areas of cooperation.

While partnerships in traditional areas such as energy, nuclear power, aerospace and infrastructure have been firmed up, said Li, the two sides also collaborate in investment and financing within the framework of the Silk Road Fund and the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank.

Noting that the bilateral trade volume between China and Russia has surpassed 100 billion U.S. dollars, hitting a record high last year, the ambassador wished to continue expanding cooperation in energy, aerospace, aviation, connectivity, infrastructure and many other emerging areas to reach the goal of 200 billion U.S. dollars in trade volume as soon as possible.
China and Russia are each other's most important and strategic partner, Li said, adding that the two countries support each other in hosting diplomatic activities, which fully reflects the special nature of their strategic partnership against the backdrop of global trade protectionism, unilateralism and anti-globalization.
This year marks the 70th anniversary of China-Russia diplomatic ties and is indeed an important year for bilateral relations, Li said, adding that he hoped the two sides will take this opportunity to push forward the bilateral ties to a new stage and work jointly toward national rejuvenation.
The interview was taken days before Chinese President Xi Jinping's upcoming state visit to Russia on June 5-7, where Xi is expected to participate in the 23rd St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF), the Chinese foreign ministry said on Thursday.
