Chinese President Xi Jinping talked on the phone with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin, saying that the two sides will keep the sound momentum of the high-level development of China-Russia relations.
Xi noted that President Putin has just made a successful state visit to China and attended the fruitful Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Qingdao Summit.
He also said he cherishes his profound friendship with Putin as well as current ties that China and Russia share, stressing the close communication and cooperation between the two nations which are both at the critical moment of development.

The Chinese president stated that China and Russia firmly supported each other, safeguard sovereignty, security and development interests of both sides, adding that the two countries have been working hard to defend peace and stability of the region and the world.
I would like to continuously work with President Putin to lead a sustained, stable and high-level Sino-Russian comprehensive strategic partnership of coordination, Xi added.
President Xi also congratulated Putin for the successful opening of the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia, and wished the event a complete success.
Putin once again congratulated Xi for the SCO Qingdao Summit and expressed his gratitude for the warm reception.
He said on his recent successful visit to China, he reached the vital consensus with President Xi on developing greater bilateral relations.
I cherish my friendship with President Xi and will stay in close touch with him, Putin said, adding that he sincerely wishes that under the leadership of President Xi, China will make greater achievements.
