Xi Jinping vows to safeguard common interests of developing countries with Brazil

"China-Brazil relations are the relations of major developing countries, mature and active. The relations are based on mutual respect, mutual benefit and equality," Chinese President Xi Jinping said. 
President Xi made the remarks when meeting with Brazilian President Michel Temer in Johannesburg, South Africa, on July 26.

Xi said that as the largest developing countries and emerging markets in the eastern and western hemispheres, China and Brazil need to strengthen their solidarity and coordination for common development.
"China and Brazil should strengthen guidance and coordination on exchanges and cooperation in various fields, promoting trade liberalization and facilitation," he noted.
The president also called on both countries to explore ways to link the Belt and Road Initiative with Brazil's investment partnership program.

He added that China will work with Brazil to promote the overall cooperation between China and Latin American countries and push the economic and trade cooperation between China and Portuguese-speaking countries to a new level. 
"China supports Brazil in hosting the next BRICS leaders' meeting," he added. Brazilian President Temer responded that the bilateral comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries is firm and mutually beneficial. Brazil attaches great importance to the Belt and Road Initiative," he said.
"Brazil and China should maintain close communication and coordination in international and regional affairs, promoting BRICS countries' solidarity and cooperation," he noted.
