United was excellent in the first half as goals from Sanchez and Herrera put the squad ahead 2-0.
Sanchez opened the scoring from close range after good work from Matteo Darmian. He would go on to assist on Herrera's left-footed shot from the center to put United up 2-0. Juan Mata delivered a cross into the box, with Sanchez cleverly heading the ball into the path of Herrera in the 27th minute.

Karim Benzema gave Real Madrid fans something to cheer about just before halftime, as he slipped behind United defenders Timothy Fosu-Mensah and Eric Bailly a few yards out and netted a cross from Andreas Pereira to bring Real within one goal. However, Real couldn't find an equalizer, allowing United to return home on the back of a decent win.
