The death toll in Indonesia's twin quake-tsunami disaster has passed 1,400. At a Jakarta news conference, authorities said the quake and subsequent tsunami destroyed some 66,000 homes and left 113 people missing. Adding to the woes, Mount Soputan volcano in the island's northeast has erupted, prompting calls by the government for residents to stay away.
