Myanmar’s Muslim Rohingya minority numbered around a million before September 2017’s mass exodus. More than 90 percent of the country’s population is Buddhist. Most Rohingya live in the northwest, many in refugee camps. They are stateless, as Myanmar has denied them citizenship since 1982.
